Our journey

From grain and school fees to health care.

Since 1969

A community trust is born

For most of its life the Samaj's work was practical and quiet, helping families with school fees and books, distributing food and grain to those who needed it, and bringing the community together.

About five years ago

The first medical centre opens

The trustees asked a different question: what happens to those same families when someone falls ill? Treatment in Thane had become something people put off because of what it cost, so the Samaj opened its first medical centre at Charai.

Two years later

A second centre at Wagle Estate

As more families came through the doors, a second centre opened at Wagle Estate, bringing the same affordable care closer to more of the community.

Today

Two multispecialty centres

A dental department, physiotherapy, an in-house pathology collection centre and a visiting panel across more than sixteen specialties, at rates a working family can plan for.

The charity that began with grain and school fees now looks after people's health as well.

What we stand for

Expert care, made affordable and accessible.

01

Expert Care

A visiting panel of specialists across more than sixteen specialties, alongside general physicians, dentists and physiotherapists through the week.

02

Affordable

A general consultation is ₹50, and treatment costs a fraction of the private rate, because we are a charitable trust, not a business.

03

Accessible

Two centres in Thane, open Monday to Saturday, 8.00 AM – 8.00 PM. Book an appointment by phone or on WhatsApp and you'll know your doctor is sitting that day, with little or no wait.

Out in the community

Health camps, school visits and talks across Thane.

Beyond the two centres, the Samaj runs periodic health camps and school visits, the same community spirit that began more than fifty years ago.
